Overview
This NSW History PowerPoint gives Kindergarten teachers 455 slides across 16 lessons, plus 4 consolidation activities, built lesson by lesson from the NSW Department of Education sample unit. The slides are designed for display on an interactive whiteboard or classroom screen, with short sentences, large photos, choral calls, sentence stems and click-to-reveal answers so young learners can follow every lesson.
Students start by sorting transport into land, water and air and learning how it moves people and goods. They then compare road, rail, water and air transport from the past with transport today, learn how Aboriginal Peoples used bark canoes and Torres Strait Islander Peoples used dugout canoes, and see how transport at Circular Quay has changed over time. The unit ends with students choosing suitable transport for different places and describing change with "In the past …" and "Now …".
